Image of former Toronto mayor John Tory heavily cloaked at the airport

If he recently landed in Toronto, he may have noticed something different about the mayoral display in the arrivals hall of Pearson Airport.

Images of the exhibit have been circulating online and show the image of former Toronto Mayor John Tory roughly covered in kraft paper and not much tape.

The display is one of the first things passengers arriving at Pearson Airport see before setting foot in the city, and also features (uncovered) footage of Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown.

A Toronto news outlet contacted the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which oversees operations at Canada’s busiest travel hub, for comment about the makeshift cover.

But, in an email, GTAA said it had nothing to do with it.

“We investigated and learned that the mayor’s image was covered by a non-GTAA employee,” a spokesperson said.

While GTAA removed the paper covering it, the organization said the signage will eventually be “reviewed and reinstated” following a change in leadership.

It seems to us a lack of respect
That they did that to Jhon Tory who gave so much for our city of Toronto.
